DEAR HOT AIR BALLOONS, I LOVE YOU.

I always have! I'm pretty sure I even want a really cool tattoo of them some day.

I BASICALLY STOLE THIS FROM SALVATION ARMY

Best find ever, bar none. I don't have any full sized pics of it, but you'll just have to trust my artsy ones. I, being a huge fan of Darjeeling, freaked when I saw it. This uber similar in color monogram leather vintage Sampsonite suitcase won my heart for $6.

I am semi-tempted to paint the animals on it as Wes Anderson's brother did, but I really do love it the way it is :]

PEN/INK REVIVAL

So, I think I've re-initiated my love for creating pen/ink drawings. I went to Texas Art the other day and probably spent more than I should have. However, quallity pens, sketchbooks, and ink do not come cheap. With that said, this is a piece I just started..
The image isn't that great because I took it with my phone. It still needs some work, but I think I might like it by the time I'm done haha. It is quite an arduous process, and the piece is larger than the scale I normally work at. I'm considering opening an art shop on etsy, I have another that I wanted to sell knits on, but during school I just don't have time for it. I just want to find a good local place around here that makes art quallity prints. I have everything for shipping, a paypal account, and I'm not afraid to attack the market, it really just barrels downt to time and resources. It would be nice to make a few $$ given the unexpected bills lately. We'll see what happens. I do have two shop fronts already on etsy, AIN'T and CITIES, and I sold one solitary item on the Cities acount haha. The other problem that I have is that I'd love to be an art rennassance woman. I love doing everything from taking pictures, to drawing, to making jewelry, to knitting, and so on. This is definitly a hindrance when it comes to developing. I'm thankful that I have the access and slight ability for all, but its difficult just to stick to one thing. I wish I had time and space for all haha. I wish I could find a darkroom in the area too so that I could finish out all my film. I miss processing. Anyways, that's enough whining for now. I have a TON of Geology homework :[

Updates I guess..

Unfortunatly, the harddrive to my computer is broken. I'm currently using my dads, which is probably why I haven't posted in awhile. I miss all my pictures and music and everything. Its ridiculous how attatched people get to technology. I had to write a paper on it recently for my English class. I personally think that for those who know how to utilize what it has to offer, it is more beneficial than harmless.. but still, we get pretty attatched. This should be more like it..

I also recently lost my car keys during a run through one of the more wooded parks in Houston. Quite a treck it was to back track another 2-3 miles aimlessly searching for the darn things only to come up empty handed. Today I found out that my key has a microchip in it, and to replace the key alone sin remote would be around 200 clams. I might as well just have my paychecks made out to the trash can. That seems a bit more probable.

Yesterday was valentine's day (I left it un-capitalized on purpose. Its a "rhetorical trope" to deconstruct the language. Obviously my English class is paying off haha). I've never really looked forward to it much, I don't dislike it.. however I think once you stop throwing parties for it in grade school, there's no use for it anymore. Anyways, my friend Makenzie and I went to the park for a bit, to church, and then out to eat at this great hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. I'm pretty sure everyone there thought we were a couple hahaha. That's probably the most I've really 'celebrated' since 5th grade. After that I went home, cuddled with Meowy, and fell asleep with the Tenenbaums. Overall it was nice haha.

FOUNDMAGAZINE

I also had Funky Formal for Wyldlife (Jr. High version of Younglife) this weekend. My dress last year was pretty great, but this year I found an even better hot little number probably owned by someone's grandmother in the early 80s (excuse the grammar). Complete with outrageous geometric purple and green patterns, a ridiculous smocked waistband, and snazzy shoulderpads, I could do no wrong. I got ready with the girls and we had a sleepover afterwards. Who doesn't love good ol' 80s dress up, dancing, and sleepovers with cheesy ice skater movies. If you're looking for a good laugh, try renting Ice Castles :] haha. Who knew blind people could ice skate so well?

Just felt like leaving a few blurbs, that is all.

Stuck in Procrastination Station.. Choo Choo

So I decided to make a wish list of sorts..

We're putting up this partition in my apartment and I love love love this Graham and Brown wallpaper!

It comes in black and white, and you can actually paint on it!!

I am an Anthro maniac, and this dress looks like a perfect transitional piece. Yum!

Now this is a bargain that I've been wanting for awhile.. this site is great, it has tons of cool surplus military gear..i.e. bags, sweater, hats, and such, for close to nothing!

Click the image to take you to their homepage.

This is another I've had on my mental wishlist for awhile, but have been way to broke to even consider purchasing it haha.

IKEA

Also I know I'm a bit late in the game for this one, but this one needs to enter into my lonely DVD collection. Its one of those I could watch over and over and over and over. I already have The Darjeeling Limited.. which has been a favorite since its release.. but I've made a point to go back and watch all Wes Anderson's work. So the Tenenbaums have made friends with my soul.

Anyways, I thinks that's enough wishing. As a friendly reminder, my birthday is March 16 haha.

WHERE OH WHERE IS THE OFF SWITCH?

Ok so I know this is super gross, but this is how I've felt lately.. like raw sewage. My allergies have gone haywire! Its terrible when I'm at work and we're busy, I have to apologize to the customer, run to the back and blow my nose, wash my hands, and then run back like every 15 minutes. Ahhh! On top of that, this has got to be the weekend that never ends! Sooo for the first day of school, I got 3 Composition assignments due next week, and 2 Geology assignments. What are these people thinking?! I thought the first day was supposed to be all, "Hey I'm Miriam from Kentucky and I like ponies and fried chicken!" Guess again. I guess I had it easy last semester. Too bad college isn't like first grade anymore. Mrs. McCully where are you? I wish we could still pretend your crayon lamp was a campfire and sit on the classroom floor with the lights off swapping scary stories. And don't even get me started on my Algebra proffesor :[ Bless his little heart, I can barely understand a word he says. Lets just say its obvious why he doesn't teach English. But I can get through this. I've already started planning for my Comp midterms.. sure to be intense. But I guess that's just the 4.0 in me. I got it last semester and it gave me the school fever, which has forced me to make lists gallore and brainstorm until it hurts. I think that's all for now, I better get back to my report on plagiarism :[ cute.

Spring Semester 2010

Sooo waking up with your eyes glues together on top of having a massive case of either strepp, bronchitis, or laringitis sure is a great way to start off the new school year. I did have the flu during finals for the fall.. so maybe on some twisted level its only fitting. Either way though, I'm quite excited to get back to the grind. Even in college I really look forward to the first day. And I kind of get double the pleasure that I have two of them per year :) Needless to say I am definitly losing my slacker mentallity, as the true nerd in me has persisted her way to the forefront of the class. I'll probably post more later with how my professors are. Oh, and I can't forget all the neat school supplies I got yesterday (Well nothing too fancy, just some notebooks that could use a little updating. Who knows, maybe I'll make a DIY post out of it). With that said, I'm off to pick out a decent outfit (I've decided sweats are for people who really don't care), have a hearty breakfast, and scour the campus for parking.
Sayonara!
