ALSO,

It really is time to invest in new music. My current 'collection' is hella sad. But I really haven't found any good outlets to discovering things. I'm stuck on a select few stations on Pandora. I really wish there were some great new soul artists emerging. I'm finding that it really is one of my favorite genres. I am in love with all of the classics of course.. but some additions would be nice. I like folky stuff too, but a good jive goes perfectly with this crisp winter weather. So I guess this is my pathetic attempt to send out an S.O.S. to the internet world, with minimal hope I may catch a fish.

WELP, BIKEY FINALLY GOT SOME EXERCISE

After dusting in my apartment for over a few months, I finally took my little girl on a nice evening stroll in this perfection that is fall weather. I actually don't live too far from Brasil so I rode straight on Alabama. I'm finding that it one of the safer streets from my place, and at night there is little traffic. This was my first ride to actually chain Bikey up and leave her, so as any parent would be, I was a little nervous and had a few glances over my shoulder before I finally walked away. A good tip my dad taught me is to take off all the lights that could be easily removed before leaving your bike. I use knogs on my bike so obviously someone could jack them without hesitation. Thankfully when I finished up she was still there so I put my lights back on and headed home. Fall is my most favorite time of year and I think this was a super lovely way to Christen its arrival. I know I've said before that I'm getting over my fear of tackling the Houston streets so this is a process, one in which I look forward to each time I go out. I'm feeling like Critical Mass needs to be one of the next things on my biking to do list. Anyone down to hang with a rookie rider?
P.S. This is my girl :]

I LOVE

when you want something so much that it hurts. That it scares you to death. That the thought of it makes you feel excited and alive. That you are so close you can taste it. That it makes you dream of not only who you will become, but what it will make of your life here and now and in this moment.

I'm really praying to get into the college in Cairo. As I'm writing my essay I find myself getting a bit teary-eyed. To be honest I don't think I've ever wanted something so much as this in my life. I have big dreams and a big heart to learn and love and be, and with that said I feel like this could be an experience of a lifetime. I feel vulnerable because I want to make sure that in 500 words or less I gut myself on this paper so that those who will be evaluating me cannot say no. All of this is really strange, and the day I send my application in I will probably have to take off because I'm sure the stress just might be too much for me to handle.

I want to eat koshary in the streets of Cairo and be minutes away from the largest museum of Eqyptian antiquities in the world. I want to study and be immersed in thought. Ughhhh I just get so excited! I know it seems I'm only looking at the fun side of this, but the truth is.. if I get accepted and enroll, this just might be the hardest thing I have ever had to face. Obviously Egyptian culture is vastly different from our way of life here in America, and in particular Texas. Like I said, I am excited.. but I am scared to death. Please pray for this, that my essay is complete and that those reading it as well as the rest of my application feel as confident as I do. Hey world are you ready to jump? I am..

BIG OL JET AIRLINER

EEEEEK TODAY OFFICIALLY MARKS THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMMMMMER!

I'll be flying close to LA to see a good friend of mine on Wednesday and I could not be more excited to get out of the city. I am sooo ready for it.

With finals and SATs I've been stress city over here in my little apartment so it will be good to kick off summer with a bang. Plus I miss my friend a ton! She's been involved in WYAM for practically the last two years. We skype and she was home last summer, but this will be a real treat to get to hang out with her for a week! Plus like I said, it will be uber nice to get out of muggy Houston and dive into the Pacific :]

I've really learned lately to value the friendships I have, even though I don't always get to see those who are important to me.

(Basically this is Gracie and I haha)
Its nice to make time to do so.

Plus I'll be sure to take a tonnnn of pictures. I'm considering taking my Holga but I will for sure take my SLR.

OH MY WORD

I could quite literally lay in bed alllll dayyyy today. I'm exhausted! After work, I came home and took a nap, woke up and made lunch, and then I put on a movie. I could probably go back to sleep right now (Seeing as I'm laying in my bed to type this post). However, school is breathing down my neck :[ I cannot wait till its over! This summer is sure to be full of fun and surprises. I'm flying out to LA for a week to see my good ol' friend Gracie. I miss her loads! Not much other than that going on around here. Pray I make it through these next few weeks.. I know I will most definitely sleep great after they are over!

P.S. It doesn't hurt that I get to cuddle this little nugget :]

TAT PIC!

Kinda crappy + it's still healing.
Also, I chickened out before we could get to the ribs.. so there is still more work to be done.
But I love it :] The pictures look kind of weird... but it's positioned on the right side of my abdomen. It's cuneiform and it says:
"Now that I have seen, I am responsible. Faith without deeds is dead."
Yay!

SORRY MAKENZIE, I'M COPYING YOU..

I'm getting in on the bicycle excitement too! As of last night, I feel about 77% more confident about riding my bike around Houston. I have a 2008 Specialized Centrum that I got around December or January. I rode it once to work and got followed home and called some pretty disgusting things. Needless to say, my first bike ride gave me a bit of shell shock. My pretty little girl has been dusting in the apartment. However, last night my friend Makenzie and I went on a lovely bike ride all over town. It was around 1 in the morning haha and there were almost no cars on the road. I had so much fun that I plan on riding my bike again later today.
(This is the model I have, however I have added fenders and white walls to mine to make it look more old school)
Anyways, enjoy some cute bikes from We Heart It. Also, don't be afraid to get out there and ride! Take it from me :]
Uber fab!

I will always have a thing for orange!
Tres chic! Swoon swoon!
Check out this two-tone baby! Clever and cute!
This one is sooopa retro! I love it.

TATTOOS!

Gosh since I was in Jr. High I have wanted one! And this week.. my waiting will finally pay off! I don't have a really good picture to post on here of what I'm getting, but I am soooooo stoaked!! Yay! I think I'll just post cool ones I found from We Heart It.

I think these are tights, but they would make some pretty sweet tats. Especially paired with some Louboutins like those hah.
I have always loved anything to do with bones! This one is great!

I also really love deer, ahh it looks neat!
Yay bird!
This one is tacky and cheesy, but I must admit.. I kind of love it lol.
Anyways, I'll post pics of mine when it is complete :] Eeeeek!

BONNE NUIT/MATIN

I am thoroughly awake. I tried to make Z's a few hours ago, but it was no use.. I'm up, and after watching Julie and Julia, I felt like leaving a post (not like anyone reads this thing lol). Anyways, I really didn't think I was going to like the movie, but it is absolutely adorable and has put me in a good mood. I feel creative, in part due to the recent rain. I can't decide whether to read, knit, or go for a walk. Either way, I don't think I'll be going back to sleep anytime soon. The other part of my creative conscious is awake due largely to the fact that I went to the gem and mineral show yesterday and man did I score big! It was very nostalgic being there. As the French would say, tres nostalgique! While I thumbed the countless rows of garnet, pearls, turquoise, and other various stones from around the globe, I thought of my grandmother. When I was little, I remember her having a booth at the same show. She used to intricately carve these wonderful eggs and encrust them with beads and stones. It sounds weird trying to describe them. She was so talented! She made a kaleidoscope of of one egg, and beaded the outside of the entire thing! It's at my moms place, but maybe someday I'll take some really cool pictures of it. She made a music box out of another. It had hinges along it and would open up to display minuscule figurine dancers. I can't remember where that one ended up, hopefully it hasn't gone too far. Anyways, I used to love staring at them, among the various other eggs she designed. I am ever so thankful of this unique legacy she left. It is not much, but it truly is dear to my heart. She died when I was around five or six, so I did not know her well. But I remember her shop in the back of the house where my mom grew up. My cousins and I were always aloud to play with the beads she had in plastic drawers. It was kind of magical. It really is funny how you forget sometimes.. and then with something so simple, you are flooded with memories. My grandfather used to keep a can crusher on the side of their garage. There was an old stone bird bath in their back yard. I remember the garden they once had, always overgrown with weeds. I remember how the planes would fly over so often. I remember the giant sunflowers that would grow in the empty lot next door. I remember the smell of their old run down house, and how its vast treasures nurtured my adventurous side. I remember. It is the simple and delicate recollections like these that remind my soul how to glow. In the mean time, I'm going to cook myself some cheesy eggs, brew a pot of coffee, turn on some jazz, and cherish the heart of the moment while I decide on another creative outlet to channel good feelings.

P.S. The picture above really makes me want to find my knee socks and put them on for no particular reason :]

Geologia!

Soo I have a rather massive Geology test today. I am super stoaked :[ Let me just throw some words out there for you..

Siliciclastic.. Metasomatism.. Pluton.. Hydrothermal Metamorphism.. Lithostatic..

I feel like the class should come with its own dictionary haha. All of these are in one test, and there are plenty more where they came from. I feel like even though it is Wednesday, once I finish this test, Spring Break will officially begin! Not that I have plans of the most superior quallity or anything, but it will be nice to lay around the house in my jammies or go nap in the park (hopefully not in my jammies). Oh and it would be nice to get some reading done. My church is working through the The Augustine Confessions, and I've also decided to re-read Discipling Nations. Both of which are absolutly amazing, and I relish the time I get to spend analyzing them. Hopefully a photoventure will be in store for Spring Break also. I never posted pics from the last one (frankly because there were too many!). But I should probably get a move on. I really need to ace this one sooo enjoy your day wherever and however you choose to spend it!

Updates I guess..

Unfortunatly, the harddrive to my computer is broken. I'm currently using my dads, which is probably why I haven't posted in awhile. I miss all my pictures and music and everything. Its ridiculous how attatched people get to technology. I had to write a paper on it recently for my English class. I personally think that for those who know how to utilize what it has to offer, it is more beneficial than harmless.. but still, we get pretty attatched. This should be more like it..

I also recently lost my car keys during a run through one of the more wooded parks in Houston. Quite a treck it was to back track another 2-3 miles aimlessly searching for the darn things only to come up empty handed. Today I found out that my key has a microchip in it, and to replace the key alone sin remote would be around 200 clams. I might as well just have my paychecks made out to the trash can. That seems a bit more probable.

Yesterday was valentine's day (I left it un-capitalized on purpose. Its a "rhetorical trope" to deconstruct the language. Obviously my English class is paying off haha). I've never really looked forward to it much, I don't dislike it.. however I think once you stop throwing parties for it in grade school, there's no use for it anymore. Anyways, my friend Makenzie and I went to the park for a bit, to church, and then out to eat at this great hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. I'm pretty sure everyone there thought we were a couple hahaha. That's probably the most I've really 'celebrated' since 5th grade. After that I went home, cuddled with Meowy, and fell asleep with the Tenenbaums. Overall it was nice haha.

FOUNDMAGAZINE

I also had Funky Formal for Wyldlife (Jr. High version of Younglife) this weekend. My dress last year was pretty great, but this year I found an even better hot little number probably owned by someone's grandmother in the early 80s (excuse the grammar). Complete with outrageous geometric purple and green patterns, a ridiculous smocked waistband, and snazzy shoulderpads, I could do no wrong. I got ready with the girls and we had a sleepover afterwards. Who doesn't love good ol' 80s dress up, dancing, and sleepovers with cheesy ice skater movies. If you're looking for a good laugh, try renting Ice Castles :] haha. Who knew blind people could ice skate so well?

Just felt like leaving a few blurbs, that is all.
